Company: New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG)Department: Electric OperationsJob Title: Supervisor Field PlanningReports to: Manager Regional OperationsCross Company Responsibility: None NYSEG:NY:OneontaOneonta,NY JOB SUMMARY: Scope of Work : Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships: Provides day:to:day supervision of the electric field planners and clerks. Supervises employees in processes of service work, service administration, field planning, safety process, work order/AE processing, use of WMS Work Management System, obtaining/expediting construction materials, joint facilities billing, customer billing jobs and assists operations with storm restoration. Resolves customer complaints. Responsible for technical support for the, construction, operation and maintenance of all electric facilities in the division. Develops cost estimates and customer contributions associated with capital and maintenance projects necessary to serve new large loads or to enhance the reliability and operability of the electric distribution system. Applies and interprets codes, standards, regulations, tariffs, and procedures. MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work : range of responsibilities): 1. Plan, schedule, assign, train and appraise the work of subordinates doing delivery system design work. Develops employees to enhance professional values and effective performance. Identify and arrange for necessary training. 2. Plan, organize, coordinate and control projects by providing liaison with customers, other sections, departments, vendors, government agencies, property owners, and other utilities. 3. Review, recommend or approve work orders and major projects. Provide solid justification. Prepare Financial Models. Oversee preparation and completion of document requirements and effective processing of all division work orders making proper use of WMS Work Management System. Monitors budget in area of responsibility and oversees personnel to ensure efficient use of resources. 4. Review project designs before and during construction to determine best economic design, apply appropriate standards, codes, and tariffs and develop best construction approach for electric projects. Analyze engineering alternatives and provide valid justification for projects. Accesses and tracks work requests in progress on WMS. 5. Provide technical guidance in response to requests by collecting, investigating and analyzing data, testing and verifying information, and developing solutions. Maintains a service level that fosters the Corporations Customer Service Guarantee. 6. Investigates and resolves customer inquiries and complaints, equipment or operation problems, and provide solutions under limited time constraints. Develops employees to enhance personal and professional value to the Corporation and community. 7. May assist with restoration efforts during storms and other emergencies. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience Required: Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Technology. BS or BT in Electrical Engineering or related Technology area preferred. At least 7 years experience in electric delivery system work. Knowledge of the design and operation of electric distribution systems. Knowledge of Distribution Line, National Electric Code, National Electric Safety Code, city and town ordinances. Knowledge of company construction standards, rates, field operating procedures, safety instructions and accounting manuals. Knowledge of union contract. Certifications: EIT completion or PE License desired Skills/Abilities: Proactive approach and results oriented. Good Interpersonal skills. Good oral and written communication skills.
